"Those who braved the morning monsoons and drizzles were rewarded with sunshine and a meandering wander through the Gasperaux Valley led by Garth's red BMW to the chicken feast in Woodville. A wonderful time and a fine BBQ meal had by all. Thanks to Garth and Geof and all the Valley people who organised the event for another successful BATANS tour!
Cheers,

June 12th - Port Williams Days

June 13th - Maitland Run

As the SUN-BEAMED, Sunday morning saw 10 LBC's, a new Mini and a Mazda head out on their westerly cruise along Hwy 215 and the shores of the Shubenacadie River and Cobequid Bay.

With speeds reaching 45 mph, the rag-tag groups first stop was Studio Glasshttp://www.studioglasscanada.com/ in Maitland, where ladies and gentlemen both enjoyed the Economusee and shopping for local arts & crafts.  With a stealthy black Prius joining in on the fun, we then zipped one mile further west to our second stop, Gallery 215 ( http://www.artgallery215.com/ ) where we perused the many beautiful works of art and partook in a delightful lunch.  After satisfying our stomachs we headed out again to third, unscheduled side stop, at 122 Point Road in Densmores Mills, where everyone admired the Cleveland's '76 MGB as it enters it final stage of re-birth.

With all the gorgeous scenery the 215 has to offer, our fourth stop found us at Burntcoat Head Parkhttp://www.burncoathead.com/ , home of the World's Highest Recorded Tides.  From there our tour proceeded to Walton Light http://www.centralnovascotia.com/members/waltonlighthouse/ , the last original lighthouse in Hants County, and where our own Dave Munroe's grandfather, Harry Lake, was the last keeper of the light.

As the afternoon slipped away, and the clouds began to roll in, our slowly diminishing numbers once again headed out on the 215 West, crossing from East Hants to West Hants, following the shores of the Minas Basin and Avon River to the home of our beloved Frank Boothroyd, where we enjoyed a cold beverage and signed his fence for all to see.

And as supper-time was upon us, the last of our little group arrived at the westerly terminus of the 215, made a left turn on Hwy 1, and headed for the Chicken Burger, our last stop for the tour.

I would like to thank all of the BATANS members that took part in the tour.
Regards, David Page, Event Organizer
