This list of restaurants is assembled from the B.A.T.A.N.S. members past dining experiences and is in order of major routes/areas of the Province.

Halifax

The Ardmore Tea Room, Quinpool Road. Unapologetically fried breakfasts of the finest kind. Ray, Judy and Emma Whitley

Phil's Fish & Chips, Purcell's Cove Road. Almost grease free F&C, perfectly crisp and fresh every time. Ray, Judy and Emma Whitley.  Also recommended by Ken and Lorna Steels.

The Italian Market, Young Street.  No nonsense North Italian, at affordable prices, in an informal setting. Ray, Judy and Emma Whitley. Also recommended for take home food when you are entertaining especially the salads and grocery items, Sheilia Sperry

Bedford

Sunnyside Restaurant, Bedford. This restaurant has a great variety of good food at reasonable prices from your Club Sandwich, Fish & Chips to steaks and everyday there is a different Special which is not on the regular menu. This restaurant is owned by the famous Five Fisherman restaurant in downtown Halifax and so you can expect any fish dish to be fresh and done to perfection. The regular waitresses Cathy and Heather are sure to take care of you properly. Tell them B.A.T.A.N.S. members recommended you try them out.

Annapolis Valley to Yarmouth (Routes #1 and #101)

Harbourville Restaurant, Harbourville, NS, located at the north end of Route 360 coming out of Berwick, over the North Mountain right on the Bay of Fundy, great German food, reasonable prices, a nice Sunday drive. Try the snitzel.

Union Street Cafe in Berwick, Great but limited food selection. Licensed.  If eating at night a reservation may be in order. Ian MacKinnon seconded by Bob Hamilton.

Pearls a takeout in Paradise. Best clams in Nova Scotia. Ample portions ample last time I ate there. Prices were dead on as well.  Ian MacKinnon

Hall's Harbour Lobster Pound – lobsters, boiled for you, eat picnic style. Lobster roll is good but not spectacular. This is more location than food although the lobsters can be good in season. Bob Hamilton, Sheilia Sperry

Family Restaurant near the Oaklawn Zoo in Aylesford – great home-cooking just like Mother used to make. Bob Hamilton seconded by Drew and Sheilia Sperry

Avon Emporium, Noel Shore this is buffet, home-cooked German based, reasonable prices. Ray, Judy and Emma Whitley.  Seconded by members of the club who have had Mother’s Day brunch there.

Café Chez Christophe, Grosses Coques near Weymouth, - very highly recommended, good prices, great food, at-home atmosphere, reservations necessary. The scallops got a five star rating from Messeurs Hamilton, Bell, Sperry and Gibson.

Bavarian Restaurant, 462 King Street, Bridgewater, NS -German cuisine, given an excellent by Preston and Betti Ann Smith

Old Black Forest Café, Martin's Brook, NS - (634-3600) German food at its best.  Very tasty and lots to Eat.  Preston and Betti Ann Smith

Magnolia's, in downtown Lunenburg. - very humble place, booths, unprepossessing. Best mussels entree, outside of Da Mauricio's.  Excellent key-lime pie. Licensed.  Decent wine list - e.g. Hardy's Sauvignon Blanc.  Ranking: high. Recommended by Ed Ingold, seconded by Andrew Hurst

Charlotte Lane Cafe & Crafts on Charlotte Lane right in the old town of  Shelburne - some of the best food we have eaten anywhere. Four thumbs up! Andrew Hurst.  Also recommended by Ben and Elizabeth Pooley who add, very good food and presentation, pleasant ambiance without being "stuffy". Quite reasonably priced until you open the wine list, which can cause a few gasps.  We particularly enjoy their mesclun salad, pork tenderloin Zurich style (the owner/chef is Swiss), and tiramisu.  Closed Sundays and Mondays.

The Quarterdeck, overhanging the beach at Summerville Beach in Queens County, good, with unusual appetizers, including deep fried parsley.  Spectacular view.  Respectable wine list. Ben and Elizabeth Pooley

Settlers Place in Mahone Bay - good food, good parking and a reasonable price tag. Ed Ingold

Seaside Shanty - Chester Basin. Another cozy restaurant overlooking the water and offers a unique menu from seafood to steaks. Their seafood chowder is to die for!! Recommended by Ray, Judy and Emma Whitley and Bob & Pat Hamilton.

Siren's Bistro, on the left in Hubbards just before the Esso that burned down. Situated in a very old home, unusual menu, excellent cuisine, and beautiful presentation. Recommended by Bob Hamilton

Trellis Café, Hubbards, just beyond Siren's Bistro on the right. Heard it was good, haven't tried it yet. Seems to be open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon. Appears to be closed at supper. Bob Hamilton

The Turkeyburger north of Bridgewater on Route 10 - Sadly it is closed and For Sale sign on it.
