August 21- 23rd - Advocate/Joggins Weekend

Friday was a fine sunny day for everyone meeting in Parrsboro for the drive to Advocate. Everyone arrived safely at the Driftwood Retreat in West Advocate. Sperrys, Patriquins, Karen and Janet from Halifax, the Coxs and Robertsons from the Pictou area and the Alders from Fredericton along with the Clevelands.

Friday evening dinner was at a new restaurant called the Wild Caraway which was delightful. On Sat. morning we all got together in a cottage to have a buffet breakfast and Jan Beattie was a bit concerned about her roof on the MG as it had a large tear and they were calling for heavy rains. So Don and Jim set about sewing the roof. We headed up to Joggins to see the Fossil Museum leaving the MG behind parked under a deck in case the rains came in early, which it did. After touring the museum and a snack at their restaurant, we drove a short distance to Chris and Jack McLellans, an MG Midget owner and former club member's new house for a wonderful BBQ.  The drive back to the cabins was wild with heavy rain and wind.

We had another buffet breakfast on Sunday morning to get us up and going for a drive to Parrsboro to the Bare Bones Cafe for lunch. After lunch we said our goodbys to some and others went on to the Ships Company Theatre to see the play Ferry Tales and then home for all. Another enjoyable weekend eating, driving and chatting with friends.
