LiveDrive Redux!!!
Friends, last Saturday, ALSNS reports collected $1740 on 39 sorties by- I think- 24 BATANS participants. This figure includes several simple donations- one of which was $1000! (We insisted they take a couple of rides as well)
That total means the Wilson's Fuels matching donation will max out at an additional $1500, in addition to which your club executive has voted to contribute $500, and there is $940 yet to come from cook book sales (am I right, Sheilia?). Well- you do the Math. I am overwhelmed and overjoyed.
If I try to thank everyone individually, I'm bound to miss someone, so let me reiterate my sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to make this event the success it was. We couldn't have done it without you, even if you didn't actually take a donor on a run, or just showed up to provide moral support. We needed a big, colourful array of weird & beautiful cars to make it all go- and you did us proud, so you did!
That said, I do want to acknowledge especially the Clevelands for coming so far and taking pictures, broken exhaust or no; David Howe for wrangling his lovely Bentley all the way from Parrsboro and back again; and Don & Eleanor Robertson, who not only drove down from New Glasgow, but actually came twice, after their Lotus decided to develop fuel feed trouble in Truro. True Grit, every one of them.
I should also thank Jen and Rudi from ALSNS for keeping the bank; Roger Phinney for negotiating sponsorships; Kim on the desk at Kent; and Lisa Phinney and my daughter Emma for fetching tables and lunch, for engaging Kent in announcing the event in their store, and generally connecting donors with the owners of the cars they wanted a drive in.
Everyone who was there: give yourselves a hand. Those who were not, don't miss LiveDrive 09; it's going to get even better!
Thanks to our sponsors:
