The Origins of B.A.T.A.N.S.

It all started back in 1983 when three British car enthusiasts met by accident (not literally), in Wolfville on an October Sunday afternoon and it just mushroomed from there, attracting like-minded enthusiasts over the years to the point we now have close to 225 members from Alberta to Newfoundland, U.S.A. and even one member in the U.K.

Read the complete Origins of B.A.T.A.N.S. story in Adobe PDF format.

Events

BATANS members participate in many events during the season, including weekly gatherings, day trips throughout the province, a yearly week-long excursion in August, show & shines, BBQ's, and more. Check out the Touring Schedule for a list of events.

Of course, during our vast travels in Nova Scotia, we have collected a List of Restaurants where we have had memorable food and service and recommend them to others.

Halifax Monday Night Gatherings
If you are free on Monday night, why not join other British car enthusiasts at the Sunnyside Restaurant in Bedford opposite Pete's Frootique at about 6 PM for some good chatter and some reasonably priced excellent food.

Northern Nova Scotia Gatherings - "Triple -T"
As of November 2009, they are having the "Triple T", (Third Tuesday of every month in Truro). Please contact our Northern Nova Scotia representative Wanda Woolaver to find out where they are meeting.

Annapolis Valley Area Gatherings
If you live in the Annapolis Valley, members meet on the first Thursday of each month (FTOM) usually at Rosie’s Restaurant in Kentville (or Wolfville in the summer months) about 7 PM but to confirm, please contact our Valley Reps Geof Turner or Brian Boates .

Windsor Area "S.T.A.T.S."
Frank Boothroyd is our man in Windsor and they have a gathering on the Second Thursday of the month at the Spitfire Arms in Windsor at about 6 PM.

South Shore Gathering
Please contact Larry Yockell for dates and times for future meetings.

BATANS E-Mail Addresses

As a BATANS member, you may apply for a batans.ca e-mail address. The only requirement is that you need to have an existing e-mail account, for the batans.ca address merely forwards mail to that existing account. Please contact Bob Hamilton and he will set this up for you.

BATANS Mailing Lists

Another benefit of being a BATANS member is that you subscribe to the BATANS "Members2" or "Anythingoes" email lists. The purpose of these lists is to provide an informal forum for discussing just about anything related to restoring or maintaining your British car with fellow BATANS members. The lists are moderately active and there's always an interesting topic of discussion.

Subscribing

Club members can subscribe to "Members2" email list by visiting:

http://batans.ca/mailman/listinfo/members2_batans.ca

We also have a separate email list for "off-topic" (i.e. non-British car) messages and you can also subscribe to that list by visiting:

http://batans.ca/mailman/listinfo/anythingoes_batans.ca

Fill in the information in the appropriate places and you will then receive an automated Confirmation Message to which you must reply and then you will receive an Approval welcome message. It is that simple.

Un-Subscribing and E-Mail Address Changes

This is easily done by visiting the same web site as subscribing and scrolling towards the bottom of the page were you can un-subscribe or change your e-mail address.
